Cardinal Stage Company was founded in 2006 to advance professional theatre in Bloomington, IN and to cultivate a life-long passion for the arts in audiences of diverse ages, cultures, and economic backgrounds. Since its inception, Cardinal has experienced significant growth and now operates with a $1.1 million budget and produces a six show mainstage season, along with two Cardinal for Kids shows, a school tour, and master classes.

Cardinal Stage has a dedicated administrative staff including an Artistic Director, Associate Artistic Director, Managing Director, Development Director, Patron Services Director, along with box office staff, production staff, and graduate assistants and interns.


The Position

Cardinal Stage Company seeks a motivated and capable team player to develop and execute the marketing and communication strategies for the company. We desire a dynamic, out of the box thinking individual who can lead the charge to promote Cardinal as a leading professional, regional theatre company. Reporting to and collaborating with the Artistic Director, the Marketing and Communications Director will oversee all strategic marketing and communication efforts.

 

Responsibilities

The Marketing and Communications Director is responsible for all marketing and communication efforts including:

  • All strategic marketing and communication efforts for Cardinal, its season and its shows (including press releases, social media marketing, email, print and radio campaigns).
  • Growing new audiences and further developing relationships with current audiences.
  • Developing annual marketing and public relations campaigns to increase Cardinal’s profile in the community, state and region.
  • Supporting all development and educational efforts and assist with the strategic implementation of Cardinal’s Strategic plan.
  • Serving as a public face of Cardinal Stage and represent the company at various events to further build and enrich Cardinal’s reputation.
  • Directing and working alongside the Patron Services Sirector to ensure success of marketing plans, group sales, ticket holder relationships and other marketing initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Artistic Director and Board of Directors.

Qualifications

Candidates will possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and career experience in marketing and communications.
    (Master’s Degree a plus)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
  • Strategic and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work at the conceptual level, present innovative solutions and gain mindshare of ideas.
  • Experience in utilizing both grassroots and professional level marketing efforts.
  • Experience with database and email content management.
  • Extremely strong written and oral communication skills.

In addition the ideal candidate will possess:

  • Graphic Design skills & experience
  • Experience in effectively utilizing a workforce consisting of paid professionals, volunteers and Cardinal staff.
  • Excellent communication skills, the ability to manage shifting and competing priorities, exercise good judgment and discretion, and maintain a positive attitude in stressful environments are all essential attributes.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and think outside the box when resources are limited and a strong desire to take on responsibilities and tackle projects head on.
  • A love and knowledge of theatre.


Compensation

Position is full-time, salaried. Salary is competitive within the industry and commensurate with experience.
