ACTORS

John Gurdian (Shrek) couldn’t be more thrilled to be making his Cardinal Stage debut as Shrek!  John is a Chicago based performer where his other credits include, Peron in Evita (JPAC), Arthur in Spamalot (NightBlue), Kiss of the Spider Woman (BoHo), as well as work with MidWest New Musicals.  He is also a member of a.d.a.p.t. Theatre Productions, and the Foundation for Artists Mentored in Entertainment (www.fame-chicago.org).  John received his BFA in Theatre Performance from Oklahoma City University before moving to Chicago in 2010, where he has continued his vocal education under John Komasa.  Big thanks to his fellow cast mates, crew, Cardinal Stage, friends, family, Shari for all her love and support, and, most importantly, his mom, because if not for her none of this would be possible. Cheers!

SchultheisEmily Schultheis (Fiona) is a recent graduate of Indiana University (December 2014) with a BFA in Musical Theatre. While this is Emily’s Cardinal Stage Company debut, she was last seen on the Buskirk-Chumley stage in the University Player/Union Board collaboration of The Rocky Horror Show (Magenta). Other theatre credits include; New York: Murder for Two: Murderous Mondays Cabaret (New World Stages), The Songs of Carner and Gregor (54 Below), and Carner and Gregor’s Barely Legal Show-tune Extravaganza (54 Below). For IU Theatre: The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Princess Puffer) and Sunday in the Park With George (Yvonne/Harriet). For Indiana Festival Theatre; Swing! The Musical (Blues in the Night/Hit Me With a Hot Note) and Island Song (Taryn). For the BPP: The Truman Show and Island Song. For University Players: Hunter Gatherers (Wendy) and A New Brain (Nancy D/Waitress). Emily is from Evansville, Indiana.

Nathan Robbins (Donkey) is excited to make his second appearance with Cardinal having previously appeared in Lord of the Flies (Jack). Originally from Cincinnati, Robbins is currently a senior BFA Musical Theatre major at Indiana University and will be moving to New York in May after graduation! For IU Theatre and IFT: The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Chairman), Moses Man (Avi), Guys and Dolls (Nicely), Cloud 9 (Betty/Gerry), Arnie the Doughnut (Arnie), Sunday in the Park w/ George (George), Richard III (Clarence), and Lysistrata (Cinesias). Robbins has also appeared numerous times with the BPP, including Gretta (Nick), Truman Show (Paul), and Maggie Cassidy (Gus). He is excited to make his debut with the Phoenix Theatre this February in The Cripple of Inishmaan (Cripple Billy)! He would like to thank his family and friends for their constant love and support!

Jason Bowen (Lord Farquaad) resides in Chicago, IL and is a founding member of Quest Theatre Ensemble (www.questensemble.org) – Chicago’s only completely free and accessible spectacle theater. In addition to Quest, Bowen has been seen around Chicago with Emerald City, First Stage, Light Opera Works, The Music Theatre Company, The Bailiwick, MadKap Productions, Chicago Performing Arts Center, Shedd Aquarium and Navy Pier Skyline Stage. Regionally, he has performed with Crossroads Repertory Theater (IN), Cortland Repertory (NY) and The Showboat Becky Thatcher (OH) and served as the Cruise Director and Master of Ceremonies for Norwegian Cruise Lines aboard the Norwegian Jade in the Mediterranean Sea. He can also be seen regionally and nationally on television as well as in print.   Bowen is an accomplished stilt dancer, puppeteer and freelance drama instructor and currently serves as the Production Manager for the Bienen School of Music on the campus of Northwestern University.

Abram, HadleyHadley Abram (Shoemaker’s Elf) is a 7th grade student at Batchelor Middle School. This is Hadley’s 6th show with Cardinal Stage Company and she is thrilled to be part of her favorite theater production, Shrek the Musical. Hadley has also appeared in the National Tour of Oz the Musical and many other local shows.  Hadley has danced for over 10 years at One Step Above Dance Studio, winning many regional and national awards.  This summer, Hadley won the title of top dance solo at the Encore Dance Nationals. Hadley has also been in a handful of regional commercials. Hadley would like to thank her teachers that continue to help her grow in the arts, her family and friends for always supporting her and the Cardinal Stage Company staff for letting her be part of this amazing show.

Todd Aulwurm (Peter Pan) is happy to be returning to Cardinal Stage after playing Simon in Lord of the Flies. Other credits include; IU Theatre: Godspell (Todd), Lacy and Ashley… (Kevin), Chicago (Roxie Boy), Sunday in the Park… (Franz/Redmond). University Players: Legally Blonde (UPS Guy/Cellist), 35mm (Cello), Catch and Release (Guard), Zombie Prom (Josh). Todd is a proud Robinson Merit Scholar and recipient of the Catherine Feltus Award. Todd is from Crown Point, IN. Todd is a BFA candidate in Musical Theater.

 

Bannec, AudreyAudrey Bannec (Fairy) is a junior at BHSS and is thrilled to be in her 2nd show with Cardinal. She has been dancing at One Step Above for 8 years and has won many Regional and National awards. She appeared in productions with Stages, OSA, Theatre South, and Sounds of South. Favorite credits include Thoroughly Modern Millie (Millie), Alice and Wonderland (Cheshire Cat), and Dear Edwina (Becky). Audrey would like to thank her dance and voice instructors for everything they have taught her, as well as her friends and family for all their support.

 

Buzzell,-DDiane Buzzell (Fairy God Mother) began studying dance at the age of three and has been an educator, professional dancer, choreographer and artistic director. She received her BFA in ballet performance from the University of Oklahoma and her MA in dance from Butler University. Diane has performed with Indiana Dance Theatre, Indianapolis Dance Company, Butler Ballet, Oklahoma Festival Ballet, Repertory Dance Theatre, Center Dance Company, DC City Ballet and Fairfax Ballet Company.  She held the position of adjunct faculty at IU Contemporary Dance Program, IU Ballet Department, and Butler University  Department of Dance. She was the founder and artistic director for Indiana Dance Theater for seven years. Throughout her career, Diane has choreographed more that 40 ballets and musicals. She has worked with Cardinal Stage Company, Theater South, Sounds of South, and Stages Bloomington. Along with her artistic endeavors, Diane is the development director for Cardinal Stage Company. Much love and thanks to her partner Michelle Miller and sons Erich and Matthew Weidenbener.

Audrey Deinlein (Ugly Duckling) is a freshman studying Theatre and Drama at Indiana University. She most recently appeared in Scott Russell Sander’s The Birthday Feast (Isabella). Other favorites, for Cardinal: Pippi Longstocking (Pippi), Willy Wonka (Wonka Chorus), Les Miserables  (Chorus/ASM), for MCCT: Urinetown (Hope), for Theatre South: How to Succeed…(Rosemary). Audrey is excited to perform with such a magical cast and crew. Big thanks to all of the support from family and friends!

 

Feildstein,-BBailey Feldstein (Baby Bear) is a junior at Indiana University majoring in Theatre and Criminal Justice. Previous shows include, The Rocky Horror Show for University Players and the Musician’s assistant in School House Rock for Indiana Festival Theatre. Bailey is a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and sings with The Singing Hoosiers with the Jacobs School of Music.

 

 

Franxman, Lindsey GwenLindsey Gwen Franxman (Wicked Witch) begins her ‘happily ever after’ with her Cardinal Stage Company debut. Previous credits include The Addams Family (Morticia) and The Producers (Ulla) for Commonwealth Artists Summer Theatre, Hairspray (Tammy) for Cincinnati Music Theatre, and I Didn’t Expect Such Humanity (Young Woman) as an IU Independent Project. She received Cincinnati Cappies nominations for her performances in Aida (Nehebka) and You Can’t Take it With You (Mrs. Kirby).   Lindsey also won scholarships from Cincinnati Music Theatre and from the Cincinnati Cappies. She is an alumnus of the University of Cincinnati CCM Music Theatre Intensive high school training program and the 2013 Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts. She is now enjoying her first fall in Bloomington as an IU Hutton Honors College freshman majoring in Theatre.

Taylor Harmon (Little Red Riding Hood, Cast 2) is an eighth grader at Jackson Creek Middle School. She is thrilled to be performing in her second show with Cardinal Stage Company, previously appearing in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and serving as an assistant stage manager/dresser for many Cardinal productions. Some of her favorite roles include Hamlet (Ophelia), Into the Woods Jr. (Cinderella), and Suessical: the Musical (Yertle the Turtle/Bird Girl). Taylor would like to thank everyone in the Cardinal Stage family for giving her this opportunity and helping her grow as a person and a performer.

 

Henderson, Tyler HeadshotTyler Henderson (Papa Ogre/ Papa Bear) is a versatile singer and actor who is comfortable in a wide variety of musical and theatrical environments. He began his formal training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he studied voice, acting, and stage combat. He has performed many leading roles in IU Opera Theater productions including most recently the title role in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro. In the musical theater realm, he has been seen most recently with Cardinal Stage in 1776 (Edward Rutledge) and with Independent Musical Productions in The Secret Garden (Neville Craven). He is also a frequent concert soloist in works such as Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, Orff’s Carmina Burana, and Brahms Requiem.   

Hawley,-GGraham Hawley (Little Piggy 3) is excited to be making his Cardinal debut. A junior BA student in Theatre and Drama at IU, his previous credits include, for IU Theatre: Guys and Dolls (Society Max) and Chicago (Fred Casely), for University Players: Legally Blonde the Musical (Winthrop/Nikos) and Captain Louie (Ziggy). He is also a proud member of the Singing Hoosiers through the Jacobs Schools of Music and is the current Varsity choreographer in the group. Graham is from Batesville, Indiana.

 

Jackson,-JJoelle Jackson (Young Fiona) is pleased to be in her fifth Cardinal Stage Company show. Previous Cardinal credits include Annie, Wizard of Oz, Willy Wonka, and the Cardinal Summer Intensive of Into the Woods Jr. (Little Red Riding Hood). She was seen in the Monroe County Civic Theater production of Urinetown (Little Sally), and will be featured in the upcoming production of Make Me Bad (young Daisy Harris) at the BPP. When not performing, Joelle can be found swimming for the IU Counsilmen Swim Team, and madly writing novels. She has a profound obsession with Doctor Who, and dreams of someday being on the show. Joelle is currently in seventh grade at The Project School. She would like to thank her extraordinary vocal coach, Amanda Biggs, and her family, friends, and TPS teachers for supporting her all the way.

Lewis,-CCaitlin Lewis (Teen Fiona, Cast 2) is a freshman at Bloomington High School South.  She is thrilled to be in her third holiday production with Cardinal Stage, previously appearing in Willy Wonka (Matilda) and The Wizard of Oz (Lullaby League Munchkin).  She has performed in many shows with Stages Bloomington, including Seussical (Mayzie), School House Rock, and Thoroughly Modern Millie (Cora).  Most recently, she appeared in in Sounds of South’s The Phantom of the Opera (Wardrobe Mistress).  She is also a member of BHSS’s Dance Team.  Caitlin wants to thank her family, friends, and teachers for always encouraging her to try hard and follow her dreams.  She would also like to thank the entire cast and crew for making this show such a wonderful experience.

Lloyd,-EEleanor Lloyd (Teen Fiona, Cast 1) recently appeared in Cardinal’s Pippi Longstocking (Annika). Other Cardinal shows include Cat in the Hat (Sally), Willy Wonka (Oompa Loompa), and Wizard of Oz (Munchkin Coroner). She also has performed for IU Opera in La Boheme, Der Rosenkavalier and Cendrillon.  This fall she sang in Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem with the IU Children’s Choir. Offstage, she plays travel soccer for Cutters and attends 8th Grade at Tri-North Middle School.

Allison Marra (Gingy/Sugar Plum Fairy) is a senior at IU pursuing a B.A. in Theatre and Drama. She is so excited to be making her debut at Cardinal Stage Company. For University Players: The Rocky Horror Show (Dance Ensemble). Allison is a proud member of IU’s improv group Awkward Silence Comedy. She wants to thank her family and friends for all of the support they give!

OMahoney, EmmaEmma O’Mahoney (Fairy) is thrilled to return for her fifth Cardinal Stage production, previously appearing in Charlotte’s Web (Fern), The Wizard of Oz (Mayor Munchkin), Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (Oompa Loompa), and Annie (Orphan).  Emma is a sophomore at Bloomington High School South.  She has also performed with BPP, Stages Bloomington, Theatre South and Sounds of South.  Some of her favorite roles include Charley’s Aunt (Amy), Godspell (Herb) and Into the Woods, Jr. (Baker’s Wife).  She would like to thank Cardinal for creating this magical stage experience, her voice teacher, Heather Narducci, and her family for their support and encouragement.

Paulin,-HHaley Paulin (Fairy) is an eighth grader at Jackson Creek, is thrilled to be performing in her fourth Cardinal production, having previously appeared in Annie (Duffy), The Wizard of Oz (Munchkin), and Willy Wonka (Oompa Loompa). Other credits include: Seussical, Schoolhouse Rock Live! and Thoroughly Modern Millie with Stages Bloomington; Cendrillon, Carmina Burana, La Bohème, Hansel and Gretel and Britten’s War Requiem (children’s chorus) with the IU Jacobs School of Music; Beauty & the Beast with Youth Theatre; The Fantastic Mr. Fox with Shawnee Theatre. Haley studies piano and voice and swims with Bloomington Swim Club. Special thanks to Meredith.

 

Philbeck, EthanEthan Philbeck (King Herold) is an actor and stage manager whose previous performances with Cardinal include Les Misérables, Pippi Longstocking, Go, Dog. Go!, Annie, Big River, The Grapes of Wrath, A Christmas Carol, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and Click, Clack, Moo. Ethan stage managed Streetcar Named Desire, The Birthday Feast, 1776, The Letters, and served as co-stage manager for The Lonesome West, as an assistant stage manager for A Year With Frog and Toad and My Fair Lady (as well as playing Jamie). He would like to thank his family and friends for continuing to make these things possible, as well as motivating and inspiring him to participate in such wonderful productions!

Popkins,-MMeera Popkin* (Fairytale Creature) is so glad to be back in theatre after such a long time. Between her Broadway and London shows and today, she has been busy raising two kids and cleaning her husband’s dishes. Her degree from Indiana University allows her to teach part time in the school system while obtaining her certification to teach full time. Meera is the proud author of five books, all from the Meera’s Muses series, that can be found on Amazon or Barnes and Noble. Previous credits include Cats, Starlight Express and Miss Saigon. Thank you to Randy and Cardinal for giving her a fun Shrek the Musical experience.

Zoe Reed (Fairytale Creature) is thrilled to be a part of this fabulously funny show! Some of her favorite previous roles include Susanna Walcott in The Crucible, Pepper in Annie, Brigitta in The Sound of Music, Belinda Cratchet in A Christmas Carol and Ruthie Joad in The Grapes of Wrath. Zoe would like to thank her family and friends for all their support as well as everyone in the Cardinal Cast and Crew for all of their hard work in making this show possible. She hopes you enjoy the show and have a wonderful holiday season!

 

Rudzinski, KevinKevin Rudzinski (Little Piggy 1) is ecstatic to be joining Cardinal for the first time. A sophomore theatre student from Indiana University, his favorite credits include; For University Players: Legally Blonde (Aaron Schultz), Miss Nelson is Missing! (Adam), and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, for Summer Stock Stage: West Side Story (A-rab) and The Drowsy Chaperone (Robert). He sends thanks to his family and friends for the continuous support!

 

Singer, ChadChad Singer (Little Piggy 2) is currently a sophomore at IU pursuing a B.A. in Theatre & Drama. He is thrilled to be making his debut with Cardinal Stage Company! For Indiana Festival Theatre: Schoolhouse Rock Live! (Tom), and Twelfth Night (Curio/Officer), for University Players: Legally Blonde: The Musical (Sundeep), 35MM: A Musical Exhibition (Company) and The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Dance Ensemble). Chad is from Sylvania, Ohio. He would like to thank all of his friends and family for their continued love and support!

 

Shannon Starks (Mama Ogre/Mama Bear) is excited to return to the stage in her second show with Cardinal Stage Company. Shannon holds a Bachelor of Science in Speech Communication and Theatre Education from Indiana University. As an undergrad, she was a member of the Indiana University Singing Hoosiers, under the direction of Robert E. Stoll, and enjoyed performing in the IU School of Music productions of Fiddler on the Roof and Carousel. Her favorite role has been mother to her four boys, Connor, Seth, Luke, and Simon. She sends her love and extreme gratitude to her husband, Eric, for making it possible for her to perform again.

 

Van Wye, Scott

Scott Van Wye (Big Bad Wolf) is very excited to be making his debut with Cardinal Stage Company! Scott is currently a freshman BFA Musical Theatre student at Indiana University. For IU Theatre: The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Clive Paget/John Jasper), for Carmel Civic Theatre: Anything Goes (Sir Evelyn Oakleigh). Scott is the 2014 ESU National Shakespeare Competition Grand Champion. He is from Indianapolis, Indiana.

 

Walker, LuciaLucia Walker (Young Fiona, Cast 1) is in sixth grade at Childs Elementary. She has performed with Cardinal Stage in Les Misérables (Young Cosette), Annie (Tessie), Willy Wonka (Matilda/Oompa Loompa), Wizard of Oz (Munchkin/Flying Monkey), and with Stages Bloomington in Aladdin (Jasmine), Jungle Book and Seussical. A member of BEAT Syncopation Show Choir, Lucia also enjoys reading, dancing, St. Paul Youth Choir, Girl Scouts, playing piano, and participating in the “Friday Musicale” Junior Music Club. She is very excited to be in the cast of Shrek!

 

Cami Wateska (Fairy) is a fifth grader at Child’s Elementary School. She is thrilled to be a part of her first Cardinal production. Cami has been in a few Stages Bloomington and One Step Above musical productions/dance team and is presently a member of the BEAT Syncopation show choir. She loves to sing, dance, play basketball, create board games and is a member of the Sherwood Oaks Christian Church. She wants to thank Cardinal, her teachers, instructors, friends and family for all their love and support.

 

Weidenbener, MattMatthew Weidenbener (Pinocchio) is a freshman BFA in musical theatre at IU. As a Bloomington native, this is his tenth Cardinal production. He recently appeared in Cardinal’s premiere musical, The Birthday Feast (Jack). Favorite credits include; Cardinal Stage Company: Charlotte’s Web (Wilbur), Willy Wonka (Augustus Gloop), Pippi Longstocking (Tommy), The Cat in the Hat (Boy), and Sounds of South: Les Miserables (Javert), Theatre South: Grease! (Roger).
