Hadley Abram (Margarita) is a 15-year-old who just completed her freshman year at Bloomington High School North. Hadley has performed in many theater productions locally and regionally. She has really enjoyed being in several past Cardinal Stage Company productions. A few of her favorite roles have been in Shrek (Shoemaker’s elf/ ensemble), Willie Wonka (Violet) and The Cat in the Hat (Sally). Hadley also enjoyed performing in Todrick Hall’s (MTV star) national musical tour, Oz. Hadley has been dancing at One Step Above Dance Studio for 13 years and has won many regional and national awards. Hadley is very active at Bloomington High School North. She is a member of BHSN Student Council, A Cougar Leader, BHSN Habitat for Humanity, BHSN Best Buddies, North Varsity Track Team, North Dance Team, and North Varsity Basketball Cheerleading. Hadley would like to thank her family, friends, Randy and the Cardinal staff for all their love and support with her busy artful schedule and letting her be part of this amazing production.

Deborah Apodaca (Maria) holds a degree in vocal performance and music education at Azusa Pacific University, and currently resides in Los Angeles, where she teaches voice, piano, and pre-k music. She credits most of her training to working with Michelle Jensen and the internationally renowned APU Chamber Singers. Never forgetting her true passion, she has continually pursued musical theatre and acting in the LA area. She has enjoyed participation in productions like Cosi fan tutte, Mad World: A New Musical, Reasons to be Pretty, and local studio recording projects. She is so incredibly happy to be joining Cardinal Stage Company as Maria, one of her dream roles! Thank you to all my family present and absent, friends, roommates, and above all; God, you are the lamp to my feet and a light to my path, thank you for letting me tell beautiful stories. You are good, always.

Catherine Barker (Graziella) just completed her sophomore year at Bloomington High School North and is excited to be returning to Cardinal Stage Company after performing in the cast of Annie in 2011. This spring, she played the role of Hope Cladwell in BHSN Theater’s production of Urinetown. Catherine studied ballet for 8 years in the IU Pre-College Ballet Program and has performed multiple roles in the IU Ballet Theater’s production of The Nutcracker. Catherine has been a member of the Bloomington Expressive Arts Training show choirs for the past five years and studied modern dance and hip hop with BEAT co-director Brennan Wilder, for whom she also served as a teaching assistant at Windfall Dance Studio and the Bedford High School show choir program. Catherine is incredibly grateful to her family, friends, and most importantly her dog Jazzy, without whom she would never be where she is today.

Joshua Scott Carter (A-rab) is a native from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He recently finished his Freshmen year at IU as a B.F.A. Musical Theatre student. This is his first show at Cardinal Stage. Other favorite productions include: Jesus Christ Superstar: Indiana University Mainstage, A Christmas Story: Grand Rapids Civic Theatre, Shrek: The Musical Byron Center High School. Joshua would like to thank his family, friends, and God for the amazing support and opportunities he has received.

 

Alan Craig (Officer Krupke) trained as an actor at The American Musical & Dramatic Academy on Broadway in NYC and Ball State University. Cardinal Stage credits: The Grapes of Wrath (Proprietor), To Kill a Mockingbird (Heck Tate), Willy Wonka (Mr. Salt), Pippi Longstocking (Captain Longstocking), and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (Cheswick). Alan has performed at Cardinal Stage, The Buskirk- Chumley, Brown County Playhouse, Indiana University, Shawnee Theatre, Waldron Arts Center, Bloomington Playwright’s Project, French Lick Springs Resort, Muncie Civic Theatre, Harrison Center for the Arts in Indianapolis, and The Palms Theatre in Mesa, Arizona. Favorite regional credits: Greater Tuna (Thurston), Noises Off (Roger), Forum (Pseudolus), JC Superstar (Herod), The Fantasticks (Huck), and Laughter on the 23rd Floor (Max). Alan resides in Bloomington with his orange tabby cat, Buddy.

Nina Donville (Estella) is an incoming sophomore BFA Musical Theatre major and has moved from Palos Verdes Peninsula, California, to study at Indiana University. This is her first mainstage production here, previously performing with the University Players in their Great American Trailer Park Musical (Pippi). She has performed in several PVPAC productions including Thoroughly Modern Millie (Muzzy Van Hossmere), The Wiz (Addapearle), Xanadu (Klio/Kira), and Bring It On (Danielle). Nina graduated from Peninsula High School last summer where she performed in Anatomy of Gray (June Muldoon) and Cabaret (Sally Bowles) – the latter earning her a “Best Actress” nomination at this year’s Jerry Herman Awards in Hollywood.

Caleb Fath (Bernardo) is thrilled to be a part of Cardinal Stage’s West Side Story. Most recently, he was seen at the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts in Warsaw, Indiana. For WWCA: The Full Monty (Buddy “Keno” Walsh), Grease (Sonny), Sister Act (Pablo). For IU Theatre: Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson (The Native Americas/ A.D.), Sweet Charity (Vittorio Vidal/Herman), Guys and Dolls (Johnny The Greek), Chicago (Dance Ensemble/Jury), Sunday in the Park with George (Horn Player/Waiter). For Indiana Festival Theatre: Godspell (Jesus), Swing! The Musical (Soloist). Caleb graduated with a BFA in Musical Theatre from IU in Spring 2016.

Max P. Fowler (Luis) is a rising junior at Indiana University pursuing a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre. He is excited to be making his Cardinal Stage debut with this production. For IU Theatre: The Drowsy Chaperone (Gangster #2), The Duchess of Malfi (Castruccio/Doctor/Madman), Jesus Christ Superstar (Assistant Director), and Sweet Charity (Marvin). For University Players: Avenue Q (Princeton) and Ivy + Bean The Musical (Leo/Dad). Other credits include a recent workshop of Front Page Flo, directed and choreographed by George Pinney. Max is from Rockville, Maryland.

Caroline Huerta (Rosalia) is a graduate of Indiana University’s B.F.A Musical Theatre Class of 2017. For IU Theatre: The Drowsy Chaperone (The Chaperone), Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson (Elizabeth/Various Roles), Antigone (The Fates), Into The Woods (Jack’s Mother), The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Helena Landless). For Cardinal Stage Company: Oliver! (Charlotte/Rose Seller), The Merchant of Venice (Jessica), Hairspray (Tammy/Beatnik Chick). For Indiana Festival Theatre: The King’s Critique (Cora), Moses Man (Sarah). Athena Kopulos (Pauline) is a rising junior majoring in theatre and drama at IU. For IU Theatre: The Tempest (Ariel/Ceres), Jesus Christ Superstar (Pit Singer). Other favorite credits include: Bloomington Playwrights Project’s Toast (Flossie), Bye Bye Birdie (Margie/Dance Captain), Fading Joy (Joy), and Dogfight (Ensemble). She is a member of the Varsity Singers and S.H. A Capella within the Jacobs School of Music’s Singing Hoosiers. Athena is from Arlington Heights, Illinois.

 

Daniel López (Tony) hailed as “a well-tuned machine of gliding, grinning charm,” has forged a varied career in both opera and theatre. After an extended stay as a Resident Artist with Indianapolis Opera, Daniel could not be more excited to be back in Indiana, playing Tony in West Side Story! Career highlights include: Tony Candolino in CATCO’s award-winning production of Master Class, Bénédict in Berlioz’ Béatrice et Bénédict, Lurcanio in Ariodante, Edoardo in La Cambiale di Matrimonio, Martin in The Tender Land, Tamino in The Magic Flute, Nanki-Poo in The Mikado, and Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance. Daniel will be in Hawaii this July, reprising Nanki-Poo in The Mikado. Daniel received an undergraduate degree from Otterbein University in his home state of Ohio, and a Master’s degree from The University of Wisconsin-Madison. He currently lives in Brooklyn, New York with his girlfriend, Marie.

Luke Major (Snowboy) is very excited to be making his Cardinal Stage debut! He is a rising sophomore pursuing a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre at Indiana University. For IU Theatre: The Drowsy Chaperone (u/s Mr. Feldzieg), Jesus Christ Superstar (Tribe). Other: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Lawrence Jameson), Cinderella (Prince Christopher), Pippin (Pippin), South Pacific (Lt. Cable), The Sound of Music (Friedrich Von Trapp) and See How They Run (Clive Owens). Luke is from Columbus, IN.

 

Casey McCoy (Anybodys) is very excited to be making her Cardinal Stage debut! She just completed her freshman year as a B.F.A. Musical Theatre student at Indiana University. This past year, Casey performed on the IU mainstage in The Drowsy Chaperone (Ensemble) and was also a part of University Player’s production of The Great American Trailer Park Musical (Pickles). This is her third production of West Side Story but her first time as Anybodys! Casey is from Malvern, Pennsylvania.

 

Michael McGregor (Doc) is exceedingly pleased to appear as Doc in West Side Story, having performed in the Mesker Starlite Theatre (Evansville, IN) production of the show as Riff in 1968. Talk about coming full circle! This is Michael’s ninth outing with Cardinal Stage; previous performances include My Fair Lady, Annie, Big River, To Kill a Mockingbird, Charlotte’s Web, Les Misérables, 1776, and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Special thanks to Randy for producing shows with parts for old guys, and best wishes for the future.

 

Melanie McNulty (Velma) is a recent graduate from Indiana University with a BA in theatre & drama with minors in dance and telecommunications. In addition to her IU education, she studied at The Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, Ireland during the spring of 2016. This is her Cardinal debut. Previous credits include: Billy Witch (Camper Jenny) for Bloomington Playwrights Project, Good Kids (Brianna) for IU Theatre, The Great American Trailer Park Musical (Lin), Bachelorette (Katie) for IU University Players. Sunday on the Rocks (Elly), Vagina Monologues (The Little Coochi Snorcher that Could) for IU Independent Projects. McNulty also recently had her directorial debut in the IU theatre department with an adaptation of Rupi Kaur’s Milk and Honey. McNulty is from Glenview, Illinois and will be returning home to continue an acting career in the city of Chicago after the show closes.

Jason Merslich (Chino) is excited to be working with Cardinal Stage for the first time! He is a Florida native and goes to school at University of Southern Indiana in Evansville. He’s been in numerous shows including Mr. Burns: a Post-Electric Play, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, Frankenstein, Rabbit Hole, Hay Fever, Shipwrecked; an Entertainment the Amazing Adventure of Louis De Rougemont, and many more. Not only does Jason like to spend his time dancing in the studio but he also likes to Pop and Lock and Jam and Break. He thanks his friends and family for supporting him and he hopes everyone enjoys the show!

Meadow Nguy (Consuela) received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theater from Indiana University. She performed as Hunyak in Indiana University’s 2013 Production of Chicago, Mary Magdelene in Indiana University’s 2016 Production of Jesus Christ Superstar, and created the role of Arabella in the world premiere of Stay Dog Theatre’s Spellbound in St. Louis, MO. Nguy performed as Liat at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music production of South Pacific in 2015 and was Soojin in Bruce Walsh’s Berserker last Spring. Nguy performed in Chicago at the 2012 Millennium Park Concert with the Broadway Players and appeared in the 2012 Broadway or Bust series on PBS. She was the winner of the 2012 Illinois High School Musical Theater Award in the Jimmy Nederlander Competition and the 2014 Norvelle Theater Excellence Award.

Caleb Novell (Diesel) is a senior musical theatre major at IU and has been seen previously in IU’s productions of Jesus Christ Superstar (Judas), Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson (Band Leader), Into
The Woods (Cinderella’s Father), The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Ensemble). For IUST: The King’s Critique (Ensemble). For BBP: Front Page Flo (Logan), Toast (Raoul). This is Caleb’s first show at Cardinal. He is from Fort Wayne, Indiana.

 

Jack O’Hara (Schrank/Glad Hand) has appeared in A Number at the Phoenix Theater in Indianapolis, Another Antigone for the Jewish Theater of Bloomington, The Woman in Black, The Boys Next Door, and Heroes at Brown County Playhouse, as well as A Crime in a Madhouse, The Diary of Anne Frank, Treasure Island, Annie, August: Osage County, 1776, and King Charles III for Cardinal Stage Company. In another life, he was Creative Director for an Indianapolis ad agency.

 

Dominic Pagliaro (Juan) is a freshman BFA Musical Theatre major and a member of the Hutton Honors College at Indiana University. For IU Mainstage: The Drowsy Chaperone (u/s Aldolpho), Jesus Christ Superstar (Ensemble); for University Players: Punk Rock (Nicholas). He is from Sandy Hook, CT.

 

 

Trevor Purkiser (Action) is thrilled to be making his Cardinal Stage Company debut! He is a Junior Theatre Performance major at the University of Southern Indiana. Following the run of the show, Trevor will be journeying to Los Angeles to study at the Stella Adler Art of Acting Studio’s Film/Television Intensive. USI credits: Mr. Burns (Sam/Mr. Burns), Standing on My Knees (Robert), Little Women (Braxton). ECT credits: Peter and the Starcatcher (Peter), West Side Story (Tony), Urinetown (Hot Blades Harry). Other favorite credits: Into the Woods (Jack), Shrek (Donkey), The Three Musketeers (D’Artagnan). Trevor is determined to one day add being the fourth live-action Spider-Man to his credits. Trevor would like to thank his family and friends for all of their love and support.

Kevin Renn (Indio) is a recent graduate of Indiana University with a BA in Theatre and Drama. For Cardinal Stage Company: Hairspray (Duane). For IU Theatre: In the Red and Brown Water (Ogun), Into the Woods (Milky White), The Exonerated (David). For University Players: Dogfight (Fector), Avenue Q (Director). Other Credits: Cock (John), The Last Days of Judas Iscariot (Sigmund Freud/St. Thomas). This fall he will be joining Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park’s 2017–2018 Acting Intern Company. Kevin is from New Albany, Indiana.

 

Melissa Rapelje (Anita) is thrilled to be making her Cardinal Stage Company debut as Anita in West Side Story! Melissa is a New York based actor that has performed professionally at various venues in NY & across the nation. Favorite credits: Off-Broadway: The Awesome ‘80s Prom. She has been featured in NYC concerts at venues including Birdland, Ars Nova, The Metropolitan Room, Le Poisson Rouge, & can be heard on various recordings including the demo for the new musical FRIDA. Emily Rozman (Francisca) Is a recent graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre. For IU Theatre: The Tempest (Ariel), Jesus Christ Superstar (Ensemble, Mary U/S), Sweet Charity (Taxi Dancer), Into the Woods (Stepsister), The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Succubae). Sam Sanderson (Pepe) is a freshman at Indiana University earning his BFA in Musical Theatre. West Side Story is his Cardinal Stage debut. Connor Starks (Baby John) This is Connor’s fourth outing at Cardinal, previously having been in Oliver! (The Artful Dodger), Peabody, The Science Fair Affair (Philip Tucker), and Brighton Beach Memoirs (Eugene M. Jerome). He is a recent graduate of Bloomington High School North, having performed in a whopping ten productions there, including (but not limited to), The Crucible (Rev. John Hale), Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (Rosencrantz), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Hysterium), Waiting for Lefty (Agate Keller), Bus Stop (Dr. Gerald Lyman), A Trip to Fiji (The Tourist), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Chip Tolentino), and, most recently, Urinetown (Bobby Strong). He will be attending Indiana University this fall, with an intended theatre major. He would like to thank Mr. Randy White for the opportunities and the vision. Also, Mike Price owes him thirty dollars. He hopes you enjoy the show.

Scott Van Wye (Riff) is a rising senior at Indiana University pursuing a BFA in 3D Printing. On the stages at IU, Scott’s been lucky to portray an array of role models for any youngster, appearing as Satan in The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Pontius Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar, and the demonic Mr. Burns in Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric play. Scott is happy to be returning to the Cardinal Stage, having just finished working on King Charles III. From Indianapolis, Indiana, Scott enjoys the finer things in life like Pizza X at 3 AM with his best friend Kevin Renn. Love you Mom and Dad.

Lucia Walker (Somewhere Girl) is fourteen years old and entering her freshman year at Bloomington High School South this fall. She has previously appeared with Cardinal Stage in Oliver! (Charlie Bates), Mary Poppins (Jane Banks), Shrek (Young Fiona), Les Misérables (Young Cosette), Willy Wonka (Matilda/Oompa-Loompa), Wizard of Oz (Munchkin/Flying Monkey) and Annie (Tessie). In recent years, Lucia has enjoyed singing with Malcolm Dalglish and The Oolites, as well as performing as a member of BEAT Syncopation Show Choir. She is a new member of Sounds of South at BHSS. Lucia loves to read, spend time outdoors, and play piano, and this month she competed in the Indiana Federation of Music Clubs State Honors Recital in Indianapolis. She is thrilled to be in the cast of West Side Story!)
