About the Story
Dickens’ well-loved tale follows the story of the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge whose hatred of Christmas is almost as famous as his penny-pinching…
Late one Christmas eve, Ebenezer is visited by the ghost of his departed business partner, Jacob Marley, who warns him to change his errant ways before it is too late. Through the night he is visited by three ghosts; the Ghost of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come.
The Ghost of Christmas Past takes Scrooge to scenes of his childhood, reminding him of a forlorn and solitary youth. The second – The Ghost of Christmas Present, takes him to the scenes of several Christmases, to see his clerk Bob Cratchit, his nephew Fred and his wife, reminding him of his fellow man.
The last and most haunting presence is that of Christmas Yet to Come. Scrooge is forced to see his own demise, a lonely and unmourned death. The spirit takes him on to see the grieving family of Tiny Tim, the crippled son of Bob Cratchit, whose young life finally ebbs away. By the side of his neglected grave, Scrooge promises to reform, thus embracing the spirit of Christmas and striving to live his life fully.
He awakens to find it is Christmas morning, and the much-changed Scrooge begins his merry journey to let festive cheer into his heart!
