A critical part of our mission is to foster a lifelong passion for the arts by investing in both the audiences of tomorrow, and by increasing access to great quality arts programming to those who need it most.  In partnership with IU Credit Union, Cardinal developed the Education Initiative in support of those goals.

The IUCU Education Initiative includes 4 Elements:

  1. Cardinal For Schools: Each year Cardinal Stage serves over 5,000 community school children through special school matinees at significantly reduced prices. Cardinal secures contributed funding to support the difference between what schools can afford to attend, and what it costs to produce a professional quality children’s production.  In addition, we produce educational materials to accompany each performance that are designed to meet the needs of educators and the curricular standards for the age group.
  2. Community Access Tickets: Cardinal Stage works with social service organizations and Title I schools to provide free tickets for children and family members who cannot otherwise afford to attend a Cardinal production. Each year we bring in over 500 community members free of charge.
  3. School Tour: With the generous support of the Duke Energy Foundation, Smithville Communications, and the IU Credit Union Education Initiative Sponsors, Cardinal is taking a brand new, original, STEM themed production on the road for in-school performances.
  4. Advanced Actor Training Program: Cardinal offers classes for ages 14 and up. Visit for information about upcoming classes and sign up to receive updates when new classes are added.
