Chris Vettel (Bill W.) couldn’t be happier to be returning to beautiful downtown Bloomington and all his friends at Cardinal Stage, where he appeared last summer as Professor Henry Higgins in Cardinal’s My Fair Lady. Vettel has performed in 46 of the 50 states and nine countries abroad. Locally, he was seen in the 2nd national tour of Sunset Boulevard (with Petula Clark) and the 30th Anniversary Tour of Annie (Bert Healy) and was also in the Beef and Boards production of Showboat (Ravenal). A bit further away, Vettel appeared as Santa Claus in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular (Chicago/St. Louis companies). Off-Broadway credits include The Flight of the Lawnchair Man (Charles Lindbergh), Wanda’s World (Lemmings) and Cactus Flower (Julian/Sanchez cover). Regional productions include State Fair at Stages St. Louis (Abel Frake), Camelot at West Virginia Public (Lancelot), Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at the Flat Rock Playhouse (Adam), Titanic at the Fireside Theatre (Andrews) and 1776 at the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival (Richard Henry Lee). He has also performed as soloist for the Opera Company of Boston, Opera Cleveland, Opera New England, Utica Symphony, Schenectady Symphony and the Boston Symphony Orchestra in the final concert conducted by Leonard Bernstein.


Paul Hansen (Dr. Bob) is pleased to make his Cardinal Stage debut with such a multi-layered role. Hansen has appeared off-Broadway in national and international tours and with several regional theater and opera companies. While living in New York City, Hansen was a member of The Shaw Project and appeared in a series of treasured parts, including Frank in Mrs. Warren’s Profession and Marchbanks in Candida. Now a resident of Indianapolis, he recently played Amos in Chicago, Chandebise/Poche in A Flea in Her Ear, Dr. Lyman in Bus Stop and Man in Chair in The Drowsy Chaperone. Hansen is the marketing director for Dance Kaleidoscope.

Perhaps best known as a synthesist of ideas, Bill W pulled together various threads of psychology, theology, and democracy into a workable and life-saving system. Bill described himself as a man who "because of his bitter experience, discovered, slowly and through a conversion experience, a system of behavior and a series of actions that works for alcoholics who want to stop drinking."
